‘White moose project’

During the summer Artscape invited leading international artists to join their Swedish and local counterparts in creating large-scale murals in all of ten different municipalities in the county of Värmland.

29 artists from all over the world created 32 unique pieces of public art during the festival’s four weeks. Artscape also hosted a series of workshops during the project, where the local community had the opportunity to create permanent pieces of art together with experienced artists. Furthermore, Artscape organised an artist talk, a film screening and an immersive light installation.

ARTSCAPE 2017 VÄRMLAND managed to connect a whole region through a joint cultural collaboration, where all ten participating municipalities were given the opportunity to take part in a prominent urban art project on equal terms. The project has led to a new strong collaborative network stretching across the municipal borders, as well as facilitating contemporary art in places normally left outside of the cultural focal point. Värmland carries a rich tradition of culture and arts, which we feel very proud to have contributed to.

Don’t forget to check out all participating artists, the finished pieces and the visual content from the festival here on the website. A massive THANK YOU to the team, our partners and of course all of Värmland!
